Julia Shicatano is a dancer and dance educator raised in Aston, Pennsylvania and currently living in East Brunswick, New Jersey. She graduated with a BFA degree in dance performance and Masters degree in Dance Education from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Julia has recently appeared in ColorMe Cosmetics’ Times Square commercial, National T-Mobile commercial, and performed with 78moves Dance Company at various venues in New York and New Jersey including the NYC Sans Limites Movement Festival and Amalgamate Artist Series at New York City Center. While attending Mason Gross, Julia has had the pleasure to perform works by Cleo Mack, Chien-Ying Wang, John Evans, Blair Richie, and work with Martha Graham Dance Company members Miki Orihara and Nya Bowman, David Dorfman’s Jordan D. Loyd, and Pam Tanowitz. In addition to dancing, Julia has experience acting in featured films through Central Casting, modeling through Alicja Models, and judging for national dance competitions.
Julia teaches in the K-12 school setting as well as the private dance school Washington Rock Dance Academy (NJ) Angela Bates Dance Academy (PA) and Paul Klocke Studio of Dance (PA), PK to Adult students in a variety of styles including ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, improvisation, choreography, creative movement, and yoga/pilates. Julia has also presented her own fitness master class, Mat Fusion, in multiple fitness and dance studios in Pennsylvania. As a teaching artist, she recognizes the potential in each one of her students. It is her goal to see the self-esteem and skill-set consistently rise within her dancers as they find their unique aesthetics and tap into their creative mindsets. She finds joy in sharing her art and passion with others and takes pride in teaching those who are eager to expand their minds and skills.
